RUMBO WILL NEVER EMPLOY SO-CALLED "SURGE, aka DYNAMIC PRICING," WHICH WE VIEW AS NOTHING MORE, AND NOTHING LESS THAN CONSUMER PRICE GOUGING.
A driver reports that he picked up a surging fare with one of the monopolistic Rideshare companies. The passenger was going literally THREE blocks north on A-1-A (Collins Ave) in Miami beach, and was charged $20. This amounts to a per mile rate of close to $80!
It's unjustifiable on any level, on any planet, under any circumstance.
This is not to say that we don't have fare differentiations. What we do is provide TRANSPARENT, fair, and competitive pricing for our services.
You can expect to see 2X pricing on National holidays, for example. In certain markets, we (and our drivers) may apply fare variations such as Late Night Differential pricing, Rush Hour, and/or Large Event pricing which generally may cause congestion and delay.
What is different from our pricing model, and the model of those who engage in (so-called) "DYNAMIC, or SURGE PRICING," (like Uber/Lyft, et.al.), changing fares on a moment's notice, is that our list fare calculations are fully Transparent, and disclosed to the public in advance.
THE SECOND NATURE OF TRANSPORTATION IS DELAY. It's an unfortunate truth in any mobility use case.
Certain events out of our control may affect your itinerary. Accidents, inclement weather and any number of circumstances may alter your ETA.
Your best defense against delay is planning ahead. If your domestic flight requires check in two hours prior to boarding, or three hours in the case of international travel, we will not be responsible if you miss a flight because you were running late.
Some drivers may offer "FLAT" rates for certain trips. A flat rate may be more than a standard estimate for time and distance for a given trip, but is a guarantee that no matter the circumstance, you will not incur additional fees when traffic delays become lengthy.
FUEL prices are subject to volatile fluctuation, and in cases of steep rises may cause increases in fares, but fares will not change without a 24 hour notice in most cases.
EQUIPMENT COSTS vary greatly, and different car classes, seating capacity, and other factors may enter in to fare calculations. A driver offering a late model Rolls Royce won't be charging economy rates.
